“Venice of the Atlantic”

El Charco de San Ginés is a small lagoon (or “puddle” – the translation of “Charco”) of natural seawater in the heart of Arrecife, the island’s capital. It epitomises the rustic yet beautiful Lanzarote.

It is located just a short distance from the main shopping street of Arrecife, Calle Real (León y Castillo), and the seafront near the Marina Lanzarote. There is an open carpark nearby.

Charco is a vibrant area with a selection of great bars, cafes and restaurants collated around the water – all with superb views in the bustling, yet peaceful setting. You can relax and watch the world go by.

There is a small Saturday market nearby and in the winter the area benefits from the array of holiday cruise passengers who disembark in Arrecife to enjoy the island for a day.
