A short journey from the airport, Puerto del Carmen has it all and has been a favourite of many tourists worldwide for many years. It’s not hard to see why.
As the island’s original and premier resort, it’s also the busiest with a bustling atmosphere. There are many different areas to the vast resort; the quiet Los Mojones in the old town, the areas of Los Pocillos and Matagorda near the airport and the bustling central area around the main strip.
There are plenty of great restaurants, bars and there is the upmarket Biosfera Shopping Centre.
The “old town” around the harbour is stunning and charismatic, and still used as a working fishing port today. Seafood restaurants are hugely popular with locals and tourists alike. The “new town” stretches along the colossal strip with gorgeous beaches and lively bars.
A must is a walk along the famous Avenida de las Playas (the strip) which connects all the famous beaches – walk along, see the delights of the town and relax on the golden beaches.
All of this is easily accessed from high quality accommodation, there are plenty of independent apartments, complexes of apartments and bungalows and also larger family villas on the peripheries of the town. Many of these properties benefit from stunning views across the resort and into the sea. In line with the whole of the island, there are no high-rise buildings which helps it retains its allure.
