Football in Lanzarote

If you’re missing your usual weekend football action whilst on your holiday, be sure to catch UD Lanzarote.

“Los Rojillos” play their home games on artificial grass at the municipal stadium in Arrecife, usually on a Sunday lunchtime at 12:00, although you should be sure to check online the kick-off time and fixtures as this can often change as opponents organise flights or ferries to the island.

The atmosphere is great, much of the crowd are Brits living on the island or visitors, and you can even watch the game at your seat with a beer, which is quite a novelty if you’re used to watching football on the cold stands in the UK! So, why not swap your Bovril for a cold beer?

Many on the island recall with fondness Real Madrid’s famous visit in 2001, with Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Steve McMannaman among the Galacticos to play in the 3-1 defeat for Lanzarote.

Tickets are 8€ for adults, 6€ for pensioners and free admission is given to under 18s.
