The Canary Islands government has struck a deal with AXA to provide an insurance policy for travellers, in the event of catching coronavirus whilst on holiday.
This covers medical, quarantine and repatriation expenses for travellers staying in licensed accommodation. You can contact individual owners and agents of every property directly on our website to check this out.
This is a great move and displays the Canarian government's confidence in their protocols to allow tourism to work safely. The only condition is that you do not knowingly have Covid-19 and travel with it.
Of course, in addition, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is still very much valid in Lanzarote. UK-issued EHICs are valid until 31st December 2020. There are also insurers offering travel insurance in the current circumstances, such as Battleface.
Don't forget Lanzarote remains a great place to visit and it is open for business right now. Many travellers are now choosing private villas and apartments, rather than crowded hotels and cruises.
