The Canary Islands government's best of intentions in legalising the quicker antigen coronavirus tests was deemed a good move. This would enable travellers to get their test done closer to their flight and save a lot of money.
For example, for my own flight, I was quoted £45 for an antigen test in the UK. Whereas now, I will pay £120 for a PCR test.
Yet, the central Spanish government continues to insist on a PCR test (and now TMA, which are little known in the UK) and it seems the airports are now continuing to operate that rule. The dispute between the Islands and Madrid has caused confusion for travellers, unfortunately, at a time when we desperately need people to continue to travel.
It would be advisable to continue to get a PCR test for entry to Lanzarote.
