The NHS England app now has a function for vaccinated patients to download a vaccine certificate.
This is becoming increasingly relevant for travel to Lanzarote, for example when checking-in to touristic accommodation in the Canary Islands you can use any of the following*:
(Children under 6 are excluded)
(Local Canarian law)
- A negative test 72 hours before arrival in the Canary Islands. A rapid antigen test is acceptable for this.
- A document to demonstrate you have been fully-vaccinated in the 8 months prior to your trip.
- A document to demonstrate you have received at least 1 dose of a vaccine within the past 4 months and at least 15 days prior to your trip.
- Proof with an official medical certificate or public document that you have had coronavirus and recovered within the past 6 months.
* = Spain's border entry requirements are separate. Currently, no test or vaccine needed as the UK isn't a 'risk' country. Should this change, double-vaccinated travellers need not be tested. Rapid antigen tests within 48 hours of arrival in Spain are accepted for those not jabbed. More here.
Significantly, the NHS app has improved the ways you can demonstrate your vaccination status. Previously, you could see your status on screen but now you can download a document that is much more substantial for travel.
Please note this is the NHS app, not the NHS Covid-19 check-in app.

See below how the certificate looks. You'll notice there are black blocks for privacy of personal details. The black box on the top left would be a QR barcode.
If you cannot use the app, you are able to access via the NHS website, calling 119 or by requesting a letter to be posted to you.
